Consumer Studies

The subject Consumer Studies focuses on developing knowledge, skills, values and attitudes to enable girls to become responsible and informed consumers of food, clothing, housing, furnishings and household equipment and to use resources optimally and in a sustainable manner.

As we are all consumers, Consumer Studies teaches essential life skills. The subject further promotes the application of knowledge and skills in the production of marketable products that will meet consumer needs.

Consumer Studies embraces the following areas: Food and Nutrition, Clothing, Housing and Furnishings and Production and Marketing of Food.

The girls have both theory and practical lessons during the week and may be required to stay after school occasionally for the Practical Assessment Task.

If you have an interest in Nutrition, Cooking and Designing and are interested in Entrepreneurship, then you will enjoy Consumer Studies. Our pupils love the subject. You do not need any special skills, only enthusiasm and passion.
