St Mary’s Resource Centre supports educational goals and provides information that is fundamental to functioning successfully in today's
society, which is increasingly information and knowledge based.
The Resource Centre equips students with lifelong learning skills and develops
the imagination, enabling them to live as responsible citizens. We provide print and electronic resources that enable all members of the School community to become critical thinkers and effective users of information in all formats and media. The catalogue
is computerised and learners are taught to use this to become independent learners accessing items in the Centre.
The Resource Centre staff provide a wide range of research material for the
students to access. Girls are taught research skills, including correct referencing procedures. St Mary’s boasts an eLibrary of downloadable fiction and non- fiction items in various languages which may be borrowed and read on smartphones, PC’s, laptops, notepads
and all tablets such as iPads. This compliments the print collection of over 15 000 items. We also have an online book club, electronic displays with continual silent Sky News and CNN updates, as well as all magazines and newspapers being digitally available
on iPads. The entire Centre is wireless connected and learners are encouraged to bring their devices whilst working in the Centre. The Centre also has Windows as well as Apple Mac computers so learners can move between the two platforms.
Research has proven that readers are achievers and our learners are supplied
with the latest fiction collections including audiobooks, biographies, short stories and graphic novels in digital and print format.
