Squash
Squash continues to be a very popular sport at St Mary's as seen by the vast number of girls who participate in social squash and the 13 teams entered in the girls' league held during Term I.
St Mary's holds the record for the most number of teams entered by any one school and this year created a new record by playing 2 teams in the prestigious U19A league.
Many of the girls participate in outside tournaments which helps to improve their standard of play and also assists them in their quest for provincial representation. .
The Central Gauteng Top Schools Tournament will be held in May to determine which Johannesburg-based school will go forward to the National Top Schools Tournament. St Mary's qualified for this in 2009 and hope to do so again in 2010.
Many of our players have provincial ranking. The thud of squash balls hitting the court walls and the laughter of the girls reflect the fun and hard work which go into this sport.
